NV has more weaponry. NV is more about rebuilding a civilization, while Fallout 3 is more concentrated on building. If you like to RP, NV is your man. If you want an exciting game, 3 is best. However, New Vegas has a much more morally ambiguous plot. IMO, F:NV is the better of the two. I also heartily recommend the original two.
And it will ease the future transition into FNV, because FNV gameplay is based on Fo3 gameplay. Overall I'd suggest you to go with 76, exhaust the story content and then continue with Fallout 3 and after than with New Vegas. New Vegas while old is the better game . Get new vegas, just to play the old world blues DLC.
Fallout NV vs CDPR's Cyber Punk. Open discussion, but mainly focused towards those who enjoy this game. In what way at all is the game better than Fallout New Vegas. Start with Fallout 3 then hit up New Vegas. 3 has the longest intro ever and if you didn’t love Fallout you might give up on the game like I did first time. 3 then gets intense. New Vegas is way more chill and consistent. However it’s very empty in the desert so that can be good or bad for you.
So to preface this, I think FNV is better than 3. Better game, better experience, just all-around better. But I think 3 is pretty good too, and in terms of why there's a community dissonance, I have some thoughts.
