A longer highway drive occasionally should help. Increasing Air flow on a diesel lowers Exhaust Gas Temps (EGT), they work opposite of gasoline engines. Lowering EGT makes a passive DPF regen even more unlikely. When I'm towing I never go through an active regen, my DPF gauge sits at 0% the whole time.
During the regeneration process, the PCM raises the temperature in the DPF to burn off the soot accumulated. Under normal operation, the engine does not produce enough heat to oxidize the soot inside the DPF. This process requires temperatures above 550 ºC (1,022 ºF).

After last dealer visit my truck runs very well. I do not know how long it will run like this. I expect I have to clean the DPF at some point and I want to get all the information and keep in file. My truck is 2007 320 CDI has 108,000 miles. Based on what I know DPF should last ~250,000 miles? Prior to clean up unless it is damaged.
